- Programs that Promote Encounters and Co-Creation and a First Look at the Venue Layout -

  • September 18, 2026

The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc. (Chairman: Koji SATO) is pleased to announce the details of the programs to be held at Japan Mobility Show Bizweek 2026, a business event to be held from October 13 through October 16, 2026 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture. The programs are designed to promote encounters and co-creation among exhibitors and visitors alike. JAMA is also releasing the overall venue layout for the first time.

A Venue Layout Designed to Promote New Co-Creation

The show will feature four exhibition zones, in which exhibitors—from startups and established companies to universities, research institutions and consortiums—will present their work, grouped by the content of their exhibits. Around these zones, JAMA will set up the main stage for the Future Mobility Forum and the communication areas for the Co-Creation Acceleration Promotion Program. At the heart of the venue, a joint exhibit by JAMA member companies will depict the kind of mobility-based society they aim to achieve, in a layout designed to promote the emergence of new social value through co-creation that crosses industry and sectoral boundaries. A total of 217 exhibitors, including 14 from overseas, will take part (as at September 18).

Joint Exhibit by JAMA Member Companies

The theme of this exhibit is "MOVE JAPAN." In response to intensifying global competition and the accelerating pace of technological change, JAMA is addressing its "New Seven Priority Challenges" with the aim of achieving real-world implementation and strengthening international competitiveness. This exhibit presents six initiatives that take the New Seven Priority Challenges as their starting point.
Going beyond a simple display of products and technologies, the exhibit explains in accessible terms why the mobility industry is tackling the social issues it faces, why that work matters, and what is being done to resolve them. It also depicts a vision of the future society that will become possible as these initiatives and technologies come together. The exhibit further sets out the technologies and services needed to bring that future about, with a view to furthering real-world implementation and international competitiveness through co-creation with a diverse range of partners, including startups and companies from many different fields.

The six initiatives around which the exhibit is organized are as follows:
  • Multi-Pathway: Diverse choices, leaving no one behind.
  • Hydrogen Adoption: Delivering hydrogen where it’s needed, making it accessible.
  • Joint Logistics: Working together to keep logistics moving.
  • Autonomous Driving: Zero fatalities. Freedom of mobility.
  • Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer: Changing cars, changing roads. Mobility with less anxiety.
  • Circular Economy: Made smarter, the Japanese way. Using resources wisely and keeping them in circulation.

The Future Mobility Forum

The Future Mobility Forum, held on the talk stage inside the show venue, is a conference in which the future of mobility and the challenges it poses are introduced and discussed from a range of perspectives, beyond industry boundaries. Grounded in concrete examples and specific ideas and concepts, the event is designed to draw in not only the featured speakers but the audience as well. Five sessions will be held over the four days of the show.

① Special Session

This session examines the barriers to co-creation that the mobility industry has overlooked. JAMA Chairman Koji SATO, JAMA Vice Chairman Toshihiro MIBE, startup founders and outside experts will take the stage to exchange views on an equal footing and without reserve on some fundamental issues, namely: As the mobility industry pursues social change, what stands in the way of co-creation across industries, what do individual parties need resolved in order to share a common goal, and how to go about devising solutions?

② Business Sessions

Linked to the show's four exhibition zones, four business sessions will explore each zone's theme in depth. In each session, JAMA vice chairmen and board members, outside experts and startup founders will go beyond explaining technologies and regulations, discussing with specific examples the issues now being faced and the responses to a changing social environment that will be needed to build a prosperous and inspiring mobility-based society. Business session themes include the following:

  • Empowering Humanity Through Technology
What will it take to implement AI and robotics as technologies that expand human potential, rather than replace people?
  • Better for the Planet, Better for the Economy
How to design the best energy mix for each region and application, and turn decarbonization measures into industrial competitiveness and benefits for consumers?
  • Peace of Mind: Always Moving, Never Failing
How to connect commercial vehicles, logistics data and autonomous driving control to build logistics and transport infrastructure with operational viability under both normal and emergency conditions?
  • People, Goods, and Data: Perfectly Seamless
How to connect safe vehicles, compact mobility, motorcycles and operational data to create a model for regional transport that can be replicated region by region?

The Future Mobility Forum stage will also host talk sessions organized by exhibitors and partner companies who will discuss their own initiatives and concepts with the audience. Six such programs are planned.

Co-Creation Acceleration Promotion Program (new program)

This is a hands-on program in which the participants themselves take the lead in learning and discovery. It is run in partnership with PLUG AND PLAY JAPAN, which brings a track record in open innovation support and accelerator programs. Building on the results of past matchmaking, the program is tailored to participants' needs and areas of interest.

① Workshops

Participants work with their own hands to give shape to co-creation. They begin by taking a fresh look at their own strengths and challenges and putting into words what they can do and what they lack. Alongside a program on the fundamentals of open innovation, offered on every day of the show, workshops on themes such as manufacturing, mobility infrastructure, energy and next-generation urban development bring participants into dialogue and group work. Six programs, running as 12 sessions in total, are designed to draw out the "next move" appropriate to where each participant stands and help turn it into doable action.

② Input Sessions

Sessions at which participants encounter leading insight and explore new perspectives and new possibilities for co-creation. Frontrunners from industry, startup founders and outside experts will present the latest technologies, market trends and forward-looking approaches to social issues. Sixteen themes—among them DX in manufacturing, skills transfer and human resource foundations, resource circulation, next-generation electrification and energy management, supply chain transformation, regional transport and disaster resilience, healthcare, and micromobility—connect the mobility industry with adjacent fields. Through insight and dialogue that cross those fields, participants look for clues to their next business co-creation.

③ Reverse Pitches

Companies discuss their own needs and challenges and invite partners who can bring solutions—a pitch running in the opposite direction from the standard! Starting with the challenge as the departure point leads to more acutely attuned encounters.

④ Short Pitches

Startups and companies present their technologies, products and business concepts. In the three minutes allotted to each company, they make their case and connect directly to business meetings and co-creation with interested companies and organizations.

Other programs, including networking programs that promote co-creation, will also be held. Dates, times and participating companies for each program will be announced on the official website as they are confirmed. Some programs require advance booking, and applications are accepted through the Meet-up Box platform. Booking for general visitors is scheduled to open on Thursday, October 1.

Co-Hosted with CEATEC 2026

Amid sweeping change in the environment surrounding society and industry, no single technology and no single industry can respond to such change on a stand-alone basis. Approaching this from their respective vantage points of mobility and digital technology, the Japan Mobility Show and CEATEC were first co-hosted on the same dates at the same venue in 2024, with the aim of promoting

co-creation across industry boundaries. In 2026 the two organizations will further strengthen that partnership, developing initiatives to create encounters and accelerate co-creation, and a special dialogue session between the chairmen of both organizations will be held on the show’s opening day.
