DENSO CORPORATION SiC-Based Flat Dual-Sided Cooling Inverter

An inverter converts direct current (DC) from the battery into alternating current (AC). This inverter leverages SiC (Silicon Carbide) power semiconductors in the power cards that perform current conversion.
Traditionally, the power cards in the core module were arranged vertically. DENSO achieved a 30% reduction in the core module size by placing the power cards flat and adopting a dual-sided cooling structure.
Power loss has also been reduced by about 70% compared to DENSO’s previous Si-based products, and this combination of compact size and high efficiency achieves world-leading power density. This contributes to greater overall energy efficiency for the vehicle.
